TRAIN at SUNSET
~ From the artist ~
“I grew up within sight of railroad tracks, and from an early age can remember being fascinated by the trains passing by. Large and loud, I could experience trains with multiple senses. Visually I saw the various company schemes and colors of the engines, the graffiti painted on the tank cars and box cars, and growing up I often saw the now extinct caboose to end the train. Sounds of the wheels clicking and clacking, metallic screeching, and who could forget the bellowing sound of the airhorn? Finally, I could feel the low rumbling caused by the tremendous weight of the equipment moving by. My house would even shake a bit as the trains passed. So naturally, trains became the main subject of my earliest artistic endeavors. Sometimes, I’ll still create illustrations with trains as the main focus.“
