“To us humans, the underwater environment of the open ocean may seem like a brilliant bright blue alien world. I’ve always loved how sunlight sparkles, shifts and diffuses as it travels though the water’s surface and envelopes the environment below in an abstract dance of light. In this painting, I have depicted the mahi-mahi (dolphinfish), a pelagic species that sport fishermen worldwide seek due to their beauty, size, food quality, and healthy population. Considered by many to be the most beautiful fish in the sea, the mahi-mahi sports iridescent body colors — metallic blues, greens and yellows – that perfectly contrast to the backdrop of the big blue ocean.”
