SAILFISH ROUNDUP

 ~ From the artist ~

“Growing up, my family drove an hour north to Ludington, MI seemingly every weekend to my grandparent’s farm. Upon entering the house, I was always greeted by a big mounted sailfish that towered over the entry stairway case. Every time I see a sailfish, I’m reminded of my grandfather.

In this painting, I have depicted two Atlantic sailfish rounding up and preying upon schools of baitfish. They are a pelagic species that sport fishermen worldwide seek due to their beauty, size and fighting ability. Honestly, I have never caught a sailfish. But I grew up watching Jacques Cousteau documentaries and have always been enamored with the open oceans.”
